As an artist, I strive to create colorful paintings that stir the eye and help one to view their own way of feeling and seeing. I don’t really understand the drive I’ve had for over thirty years to accomplish the body of work that I have done. I just use my time to create. I have many ideas and it is important for me to express them.
From the early 1970’s to the present there were always subjects that were of interest to me. As I get older, I realize how much the environment creates the landscape in which I am able to be the artist in this moment. For me, the art was always just walking up the canvas, listening to music and allowing it to happen. Sometimes, I had a good idea of what it would become... but in the process it would change and evolve. I look at everything... color, my surroundings and other creative people. We think we are unique... we are not. I have my own style...but subjects evolve from all your influences before. What makes art exciting and challenging is when I’ve been given the opportunity to interpret the subject matter in my own vision and creative style. |
