glossary
acrylic painting - painting executed in the medium of synthetic acrylic resins. Acrylics dry rapidly, serve as a vehicle for any kind of pigment, and are capable of giving both the transparent brilliance or watercolor and the density of oil paint.
artist proof - Artist Proof or AP vs. Numbered Edition Print. The artist proof is a copy of the print outside of the numbered edition, historically made as a test and reserved for the artist’s own collection or to be shown in gallery, museum shows or given as gifts. A print can have multiple AP’s, and some of them may be made available for purchase if the rest of the edition is sold out.
giclée print - a process that involves squirting microscopic dots of ink onto fine-quality archival paper or canvas. The ink is actually absorbed into the paper, giving the piece a look very close to the original.
